Self-Acceptance

by leona on February 27, 2009

j0182738I have been Focusing on Self-Acceptance or Presence. More and more I am sensing how important this is to my living experience both internally and in my relationship with the world. That my motivation to work for peace in the world is via working for peace in my inner world.

In a Focusing session what came were the following notes:

When I can be present with that comes within me I can be present with the suffering, or all that comes within, anyone. Being compassionately present to all of “my experience” means that I am open to being present to all experience because the whole universe is in my body. If I am present to all that my felt-body presents, I am present to the universal felt-experience. I am empathically connected to all that is.

We connect with others to the degree we connect with ourselves.

We are empathic with others to the degree we are empathic with ourselves.

We can accept what is to the degree that we can accept what is within us.

In this field of connection, relatively there is me  and there is you. My experience of any event is different to your experience of any event even if we are standing right next to each other. So, our communicating is not about reaching agreement about our experience but about sharing the rich differences of our experiences from our inner world and felt sensing. This is the field beyond right and wrong.
